Elderly Man Critically Injured While Escaping Hollywood Beach House Fire. What to Know.

An elderly man was hospitalized after he was forced to jump from the second-floor window of his home to escape a fire, according to reporting from local media.

The man, who is in his 70s, remained in critical condition as of Tuesday morning, NBC 6 South Florida reported. He was allegedly at home with his daughter and grandchildren around 6 a.m. Monday when the fire broke out at the family’s townhome. The flames had reached the staircase, essentially trapping the family upstairs, police told reporters. The grandfather smashed through the window and slid down the side of the home before falling to the ground where a neighbor found him. Officials said that the man suffered a “major head injury” as a result of the incident.

“I heard glass shatters and I thought someone was breaking into my house,” one neighbor told reporters.

Boy Climbs out of California Disneyland Ride. What Happened.

Videos of a 13-year-old boy allegedly climbing out of a ride at Disneyland and taking the 50-foot plunge have gone viral on the internet for their shock-value.

The boy was taken to the hospital after climbing from a log boat on Sunday at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, formerly known as Splash Mountain. Thankfully, he did not suffer any serious injuries, according to local media. The boy can be seen outside of the log boat just before the famous drop where he takes a frightening fall. The ride was immediately stopped.

The ride was immediately stopped and was allegedly closed for the remainder of the day while an investigation took place.

Leesfield & Partners’ Founder and Managing Partner, Ira Leesfield, sat down with Fox 35 Orlando’s Garrett Wymer to discuss Gov. Ron DeSantis’ decision to veto Senate Bill 382, a bipartisan e-bike safety bill.

“This is chaos,” Mr. Leesfield said. “If you go into any municipality on a Friday night, you’ll see people doing wheelies, weaving in and out [of traffic]. And neither the governor, no you, nor I … can tell an e-bike operator where to operate his or her e-bike. What is safe?”

If it had been passed, SB 382 would have created a 10 mph speed limit for e-bike riders when within 50 feet of a pedestrian on sidewalks and shared paths and mandate audible signals when passing these individuals. Additionally, the bill outlined requirements for the creation of a task force to monitor crash statistics and data collected by police throughout the state to make future recommendations.

Two Hospitalized Following Miami Jet Ski Crash. What to Know.

A jet ski collision near the Miami Marine Stadium on Thursday, June 25, resulted in at least two hospitalizations, officials said.

The personal watercraft (PWC) incident occurred off the Rickenbacker Causeway, according to CBS News reporting. There were allegedly two men on each of the PWC’s, which were traveling in the waters north of the Rickenbacker Causeway when they crashed.

At least two men, described by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials as being in their 40s, were taken to the Ryder Trauma Center. The men were said to be in “serious but stable” condition and were taken to the hospital as a precaution, CBS News reported.

The anticipation of summer break brings with it a lull in South Florida’s morning rush-hour traffic, but that respite is replaced by another seasonal concern: hurricane season.

Hurricane season runs every year from June 1 and runs through Nov. 30. While forecasters with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration have described this season as “below normal,” because of El Niño weather patterns. Their predictions include three to six hurricanes and one to three major hurricanes, according to reporting from The Miami Herald.

Hurricane seasons described as “average” by NOAA officials include 14 named storms with seven hurricanes and three major hurricanes. This season has a 55% chance of being below-normal, a 35% chance of a near-normal season, and a 10% chance of an above-normal season.

On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, he died, just days after he was in an e-scooter crash.

The incident occurred on Mother’s Day while Colton was out buying Mother’s Day flowers for his mom, Ashley LaChance, according to reporting from Fox Orlando. LaChance told reporters she was at the beach and planned to pick up her son for a family trip to Disney World. It was around 4 p.m. when Colton drove his e-scooter into traffic and fatally collided with a pickup truck, local media reported.
