Dozens of Health Violations Shut Down Hialeah Public Swimming Pools. What to Know.

In a week of mounting temperatures and National Weather Service heat advisories throughout Miami, the City of Hialeah closed its three remaining public swimming pools following Florida Health Department findings.

The city’s Bucky Dent Water Park, which reopened in July after a year-long closure, once again closed following an incident involving an 80-year-old man who had a medical emergency while in a pool. It was later revealed that the facilities were operating without proper permits and that there was a problem with equipment at the water park, according to reporting from The Miami Herald.

Outside of that, the three pools — McDonald Pool, Milander Pool and Babcock Pool — will temporarily close after several violations were found. A pool with no chlorine, broken safety equipment, and other potential hazards are among the contraventions found by inspectors on the properties.

Ira Leesfield Discusses E-Bike Safety Ahead of SB 382

Leesfield & Partners’ Founder and Managing Partner, Ira Leesfield, has admonished the lack of regulations related to the use of micromobility devices since at least 2019.

Nearly a decade later, and Florida lawmakers have crafted much-needed regulations and an exploratory task force to track crashes and other incidents that will go into effect on July 1 if signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis.

“It’s an unregulated problem, which is only getting exponentially worse, really exponentially worse,” Mr. Leesfield told ABC 7’s Juliana Narvaez.

Construction Worker in Miami Dies Following 20-Foot Fall. What to Know.

A construction worker died after a horrific fall onto Biscayne Boulevard on Monday, March 23, according to reporting from The Miami Herald.

No name has been released as of Wednesday, March 25. Officials with Florida Highway Patrol told reporters that the incident happened just before 4 a.m. The man fell about 20 feet from the overpass on Interstate 395, landing on the street.

He died at the scene, and the area was closed as officials and emergency responders investigated the incident.

Car Driving Down Florida Highway Hit by Plane. What to Know.

A woman was in for a shock this week when the vehicle she was in was hit by a plane attempting a crash landing.

The incident happened around 5:45 p.m. in Brevard County on Monday, Dec. 8, on I-95, according to reporting from WSVN. The 27-year-old pilot was attempting to make an emergency landing following an engine failure.

Miraculously, the 57-year-old driver was taken to the hospital with only minor injuries. Onlookers described the car, a 2023 Toyota Camry, as “crushed” except for the driver’s side.

Police: Elderly Man in Wheelchair Dies Following Florida City Crash. What to Know.

A man in a wheelchair died Thursday morning in Florida City after being hit by a tanker truck, according to reporting from Local 10 News.

The name of the man has not been released, but authorities told reporters that the pedestrian was an elderly man.

The incident happened around 4:37 a.m. when the driver of the tanker truck was headed down North Krome Avenue. The driver allegedly told police that he did not see the man.

Boy, 7, Hospitalized After Dog Attack in Fort Lauderdale. What to Know.

A dog that attacked a 7-year-old boy playing with friends in a Fort Lauderdale neighborhood has since been euthanized, according to local media.

The incident happened on Tuesday, Nov. 18, around 3:45 p.m. near 1812 Northwest 15^th Court. After he was bitten, the boy ran to a neighbor’s home for help where a Good Samaritan cleaned his wound and attempted to stanch the bleeding with gauze while another neighbor called 911.

The boy suffered a minor leg injury in the attack and was taken to Broward Medical Center.

The man, police told reporters with WSVN News, was pinned beneath the wall when it collapsed near the 2900 block of Southwest 22^nd Avenue.

The girl, 2, was mauled by a rottweiler before 8:15 p.m. at a home near the 1700 block of Southwest 24th Street. Emergency responders were called out to the property after receiving 911 calls for the girl’s “numerous injuries,” according to reporting from The Miami Herald.

She was taken to Broward Health Medical Center’s trauma department by emergency personnel.

Boy Airlifted to Hospital After Margate Dog Attack. What to Know.

An 8-year-old boy was airlifted to the hospital after he was attacked by a Pitbull on Wednesday.

The boy’s injuries are severe but do not appear to be life-threatening, according to reporting from Local 10 News.

First responders were called out to a home along the 5500 block of Lakewood Circle South around 11:30 a.m. The boy was locked inside a bathroom, and first responders had to force their way into the home through a window where they found at least two Pitbulls.
