Warnings Issued Over ATV Usage. At Least Eight People Dead.

Several warnings have been issued regarding all-terrain vehicles in the U.S. over the last several months following the deaths of at least eight people in recent weeks, according to reporting from The Miami Herald.

The warnings were issued in late 2025 and early 2026 by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission regarding specific brands of ATVs. Among them was an Aunvito MX Moto youth ATV with the CPSC stating that the vehicles violate mandatory standards for youth ATVs, including failing to meet mechanical suspension requirements. This creates a crash hazard. Another issue flagged by the agency is that the vehicles’ surfaces exceed maximum temperature requirements and pose a risk of burns. The handlebars could potentially pose a laceration hazard if a child were to come into contact with it at a high rate of speed. The vehicle is also missing required safety reflectors.

The agency also issued a warning last month for Nakto Youth ATVs sold o Amazon, which exceed speed limits for children 6 years old and older. These vehicles also have a suspension and handlebar issue.

‘He’s so Young:’ Family of Boy Injured in New Year’s Day ATV Crash in Miami Expects Months-Long Recovery.

The family of a 14-year-old boy who sustained a head injury after a crash on his all-terrain vehicle (ATV) on New Year’s Day does not expect him to return to school this year, according to reporting from WSVN.

The incident happened just after 6 p.m. near Southwest 220^th Street and 118^th Avenue involving the boy, identified as Jamari Charles, and another vehicle. Jamari was gifted the four-wheeler for Christmas and was allegedly not wearing a helmet at the time, WSVN reported. He was taken to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital in “critical but stable condition.”

The driver involved was not injured.

One dead, two others injured after golf cart clams into propane truck over the weekend, cops say

A man died after he lost control of his golf cart in Fort Myers and crashed into a propane truck Saturday, injuring his passenger and the driver of the truck, according to reporting from The Miami Herald.

The crash happened around 11 a.m. Saturday on Winkler Road. Officials with Florida Highway Patrol told reporters that the man was driving the golf cart south when he “left the road, overcorrected” and swerved into oncoming traffic, hitting a propane truck traveling in the opposite direction.

The golf cart driver, 44, was pronounced dead at the scene while his passenger, a 30-year-old man, was injured along with the driver of the propane truck. Both had minor injuries, according to local reporting.

Woman killed in ATV accident that sent herself, one other careening into Miami canal, officials say

A woman died after she and another woman lost control of an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) resulting in them plunging into a nearby canal, according to reporting from The Miami Herald.

Police told the newspaper that the crash happened around 1 p.m. Thursday near Southwest 112th Street and 157th Avenue. Both were rescued from the water and one was said to be in critical condition. That woman was taken to West Kendall Baptist Hospital where she later died.

Information about whether the second woman was injured or whether police believe the crash to be caused by operator or mechanical error was not immediately available Friday.
